Generators are mechanical equipment that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy. They are driven by water turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines or other power machinery. They convert water, air, fuel combustion or nuclear fission into mechanical energy and transmit it to the generator. The generator converts to electrical energy. Generators are widely used in industrial and agricultural production, national defense, science and technology and daily life.
Diesel generators are generators driven by internal combustion engines. It starts quickly and is easy to operate. However, the cost of generating electricity from internal combustion engines is relatively high, so diesel generator sets are mainly used as emergency backup power sources, or used in mobile power stations and areas where large power grids have not yet reached. Diesel generators are usually above 1,000 rpm, and the capacity is between several kilowatts to several kilowatts, and the units below 200 kilowatts are especially used. It is relatively simple to manufacture. The torque output on the diesel engine shaft pulsates periodically, so the generator works under severe vibration conditions. Therefore, the structural components of diesel generators, especially the rotating shaft, must have sufficient strength and rigidity to prevent these components from breaking due to vibration. Wind turbines are power machinery that convert wind energy into mechanical work, also known as windmills. Broadly speaking, it is a heat energy utilization engine that uses the sun as a heat source and the atmosphere as a working medium. Wind power uses natural energy. It is much better than diesel power generation. But if it is used in an emergency, it is still not as good as a diesel generator. Wind power cannot be regarded as a backup power source, but it can be used for a long time.
Generally speaking, Auto Relay and Starting Relay are more common in generators.
