Dc component, also known as aperiodic component, is one of the three components of short-circuit current.The short circuit current of infinite power supply circuit includes ac component and DC component in the transient process. The reason of dc component is that the current in the circuit inductor cannot be suddenly changed in short circuit.The amplitude of dc component of short circuit current decays with time. The initial value of DC component is related to the initial Angle of the power supply voltage, the current value in the circuit before short circuit and the Angle.

 

The differences between the anti-DC component transformer and the common transformer are as follows:Conventional current transformers often fail due to saturation in the case of unidirectional current exchange.The anti-DC component transformer is made of an amorphous metal core with excellent linearity and agitation. The core will not be saturated when passing through a certain DC component on the original side.(Saturated metal core means the CT will not increase when current increase)

 

In short circuit, the short circuit current contains attenuated aperiodic component and periodic component, the aperiodic component is the DC component. Since reclose is widely used in current protection, if a short circuit still exists during reclose, the two DC components will be superimposed and the ct core will be saturated. So a current transformer like this is needed.
