Product Overview

MD0630T01A is a high sensititivity AC DC leakage current sensor which has the characteristics of accurate measurement, small size and integration. The leakage sensor can be set separately for AC and DC leakage. An alarm signal is generated when the set current is reached. The leakage sensor has a digital output function, which can directly read the current value of DC and AC. Which can also be called residual current sensor, residual current monitor (RCM), residual current device (RCD), differential current sensor, leakage current detector and fault current sensor etc.

This residual current monitor is intended for the detection of DC and AC Residual currents in EV Charging Stations where such currents may flow under a fault condition. The RCD/RCM device may be used to detect 6mA DC or 30mA AC Residual Currents in DC, single phase or 3 phase installations, it is ideally suited for use with Electric Vehicle charging cables (Mode 2 Protection) and EV charging stations (Mode 3 Protection). When a Residual Fault Current that exceeds the rated AC or DC level is detected, It will signal to the Smart EVSE.

In electric vehicle charging if the DC fault current is greater than 6mA, it could change the characteristics of a Type A RCD due to its core saturation, resulting in the type A failing to trip and a lack of detection of the DC fault. In this instance, the risk of electric shock is increased, and safety is compromised. IVY has launched a new 6mA DC sensor that is designed to detect a DC earth fault, which is more cost-effective than using a Type B RCCB. In the event of a dangerous electrical fault, the sensor will output an alarm signal (by setting the leakage alarm value). This new 6mA DC sensor enables compliance with the updated IEC62955:2018 and reduces the cost of developing electric vehicle charging solutions.
