Myths of E-mobility

Pulished on Jun. 02, 2021

We have continued to share many articles on E-mobility, which shows how much we attach importance to EVs for new energy. The following links help you quickly review the past content:

E-mobility is a constantly developing and enriching topic, even if everyone is sharing it, E-mobility is a fast growing industry and myths about it are spreading just as fast. Since e-mobility is our day to day life, we decided to share Our take on some of the most popular myths. Of course, these myths are also learned from our partners of our EV charger manufacturer, and we would like to express our sincere gratitude.

1. “EV range is too short"

Yes, it‘s shorter than most of ICE cars, but... 50–60 km is an average of daily driven distance in many EU countries. Most of the car producers offer EV models with around 200-450km range, which is enough for the daily work-home-work route and even for a longer trip. We need to add here that the range will be improved with the development of technology just like the development of EV battery.

2. “They are no fun"

E-cars accelerate faster than ones with combustion engines.

Acceleration speed from 0 to 100 km/h:

Tesla Model S Plaid - 2.1 seconds

Porsche Taycan Turbo S - 2.8 seconds

Audi e-tron 55 quattro - 5.7 seconds

Hence the speed is really interesting, just imagine that you try to drive a normal car but it reacts after a long time, however this E-car can start in seconds!

3. “There is no infrastructure of EV chargers“

We agree that a reliable charging infrastructure has a significant role in making e-mobility durable, however 80% of charging sessions happen at home or at work. According to Delta-EE report public fast charging (DC) accounts to only 8% of all charging sessions, still a very important part, but not crucial. At the same time, IVY METERING as a EV charger parts factory, we witness the development of infrastructure, especially for Lithuania, UK, Spain, Italy, Netherland, India, Ukraine, including China.

4. “It is dangerous to drive an electric vehicle“

Electricity? Must be dangerous to drive in the storm!

There is no risk to charge in the rain

In case of crash electricity flow is stopped immediately

In case of thunderstorm faraday cage protects EV

By the way, the EV charging pile at home or EV charging station are safe as well, coz we know the design of EV charger usually there will be an AC DC leakage sensor to detect if any unexpected current and alarm when it meet the value. Same time there will be a EV or new energy relay to control on & off when accidents.

5.“Electric cars pollute even more than diesel, because production of electricity emits CO2”

We cannot argue the fact that production of electricity may emit CO2, however the pivot point is energetical efficiency. Electric motors convert 75% of the chemical energy from the batteries to power the wheels, whereas ICE cars only 20-30%.

In short, Where there is myths, there is the truth, where there is demand, there is supply. We are not the manufacturer of Ev charger, but we are the best strategic partner of EV charger manufacturer. You concentrate on researching better charging piles, and we are committed to better EV charging accessories, so that we can make a certain contribution to people's better life. You are welcome to communicate with us any ideas about charging piles and infrastructure, like & comments to get more information~
