Knowledge about Leakage Sensor

Definition: Leakage Sensor is a kind of a device, which can convert the measured AC microcurrent dc isolation to linear proportional DC current DC voltage and other standard analog signals or RS485 digital signals based on the principle of electromagnetic isolation and magnetic modulation of CT.


It is widely used in dc and AC power supply system bus and branch insulation condition real-time monitoring.It is especially suitable for the EV charger market with a good development prospect.

 

The leakage current sensor is installed on the positive and negative output lines of the DC circuit. When the device is in operation, it can detect the output signals of each branch sensor in real time. When the branch insulation is normal, the current flowing through the sensor is equal in magnitude and opposite in direction, and its output signal is zero.When the branch is earthed, the leakage current sensor has a differential flow, and the output of the sensor is not zero. Therefore, the grounding branch of the DC system can be judged by detecting the output signals of each branch sensor.The principle of high precision line selection is not affected by the line distribution capacitance.

 

Classification:

1. Analog output Leakage Sensor;

2. Digital output DC Leakage Sensor.

If the leakage currents are classified as follows according to the characteristics of the DC component of leakage currents:

 

AC type leakage sensor: designed for power frequency sinusoidal leakage current, it can reliably protect sinusoidal leakage current applied suddenly and rising slowly.

 

Type A leakage sensor: Type A leakage current improves the magnetic characteristics of the transformer, which can protect not only the sinusoidal leakage signal, but also the leakage signal containing the pulsating DC component.

 

Type B leakage sensor: It can protect sinusoidal AC signal pulsating DC signal and smooth signal reliably, which has higher design requirements than type A leakage signal.
