Application of din rail type DC energy meter in charging pile industry

With the increasing number of new energy vehicles, as the "refueling machine" of new energy vehicles, there are more and more charging piles, and the charging service market has formed a certain scale and pattern.

The charging pile can realize the charging of time, electricity, and amount, and can be used as a public electricity purchase terminal. At the same time, in order to improve the efficiency and practicability of public charging piles, there are currently dual-gun dual-channel metering, fast charging and slow charging. Usually, there will be a DC power meter inside the charging pile to monitor the power consumption of each gun in real time.


1: Background application

In the electric vehicle charging system, the charging pile communicates with the vehicle battery management system (BMS) to convert the three-phase AC input power into the DC power required by the BMS. The output energy is measured. The charge management controller reads the power data of the DC power meter, and controls the DC charging output, etc. The DC energy meter can be configured with a shunt or a Hall sensor to measure the charging energy.

The DC energy meter can be connected to the main control of the charging pile by means of RS485 communication. The main control can read the meter information, and can also monitor the charging situation according to user needs. Through the DC energy meter charging detection software, the voltage, current, power, and power of the electric vehicle during fast charging at the DC charging station can be visually displayed, which is convenient for querying various data and viewing records of abnormal conditions.

This series of meters can measure the voltage, current, power, and forward and reverse energy in the DC system. In the actual use site, the total electric energy can be measured, and the electric energy in a specified time period can be measured. The detection results can be used for local display, and can be connected with industrial control equipment and computers to form a measurement and control system.

l It has the function of automatic conversion of calendar, timing and leap year, and has the function of correcting time. The error of the clock issued by the broadcast shall not be greater than 5 minutes. If the time is not calibrated within ten minutes before and after zero, the time is only allowed to be calibrated once a day.

l There are two sets of rate periods, which can be automatically converted between the two sets of rate periods through the preset time. Each -485 communication interface adopts DL/T645-2007 communication protocol and Modbus-RTU protocol. The communication rate of RS485 can be 1200bps, 2400bps, 4800bps, 9600bps settings.

With the construction of charging stations, the ratio of new energy vehicles and charging piles in my country has gradually become reasonable. Although the layout of charging infrastructure is improving day by day, compared with the number of new energy vehicles, there is still a shortage, and it will grow rapidly in the future.
