Relay is a kind of control element, it is a kind of circuit switch with protective properties, and it is the core element of new energy vehicles.

Usually used in automated control circuits, it is actually an "automatic switch" that controls the operation of large currents with small currents, and forms safety protection mechanisms and conversion circuits with other components in the circuit;

What is the difference between a relay and a contactor?

At the earliest, some people called the contactor on the AC, and the relay on the DC, the reason is that the contactor on the AC is relatively large, the contactor on the DC is relatively small, and some are called contactors;

There is no difference in function between relays and contactors. They are both control switches. In the early days, contactors were used in alternating current. Because the design of direct current circuits focused on the integration of miniaturized space, and developed a contactor that is relatively small in low DC voltage. The compressed version is called a relay for the distinction.


What can relays and contactors do?

1. The relay can remotely connect and disconnect the circuit in the circuit to realize the remote switch function,

2. Switch the current line by on-off to realize the function of multi-line mutual cutting,

3. The multi-line mutual cutting function is used to realize the multi-device sharing line, so as to realize the miniaturization of the device,

4. Form an automatic control circuit with other components,

New energy relay application and scope

1. Mainly for automobiles, solar energy, wind energy, charging piles, power storage systems, industrial automation, etc. in the new energy industry to realize power protection, automation, motion, remote control, measurement and communication;

2. Switch and protect the battery charging and discharging lines in new energy vehicles, and combine them into a safety mechanism to prevent equipment failure or short circuit, fire, etc., automatically detect and isolate faulty lines, prevent further expansion of the scope of damaged equipment, save maintenance costs, and prevent leakage. Protection, and effectively improve the battery life, the on-off control of air conditioners, steering, brakes, air pumps, motors, etc., are the core components of new energy vehicles.

3. Cooperate with the system in the charging pile to automatically charge and disconnect the charging pile, and automatically detect and protect to prevent improper operations such as overcharge, electric shock, and leakage.

4. It is used in the real-time detection system in solar power generation to assist the solar panel detection system to isolate the aging, damaged and short-circuited panels to reduce the impact on efficiency. The system remotely controls the panels for maintenance to prevent electric shock and leakage. Save maintenance costs, and prevent expansion of damage range, thereby improving the life of the power board;

5. In the power storage system, realize the switching of the line, and build a leakage detection system to prevent the impact of surge shock on the battery life, prevent overcharge, overdischarge and other protections.


IVY has launched several new energy EV relays. Single pole relay: IM601 32A/40A/60A bistable latching relay, IM-NE802 63A/80A/100A monostable power relay, IM901 63A/90A latching relay. Two pole relays: IM-NE801 32A/40A PCB power relays. The contact spacing is optional in the range of 0.8mm~3mm, the isolation withstand voltage exceeds 4KV, and the coil has a long life.
