Types of Current Sensor
Before we introduced hall effect current sensor, clamp-type split core current sensor, RCD, RCCB etc, let’s review them and learn some new types of current sensing and detection components:
1.A Hall effect sensor (or simply Hall sensor) is a type of sensor which detects the presence and magnitude of a magnetic field using the Hall Effect. The output voltage of a Hall sensor is directly proportional to the strength of the field.
2.Clamp-type alternating current sensor is a current transformer which can detect alternating current at non-contact. This divided type sensor allows mounting in existing circuits without interrupting the power supply. Clamp-type current sensor allows mounting in existing circuits without interrupting power supply. Somebody also name it as split core current sensor.
3.RCD- RCD is residual current detector, residual current detection. A residual-current device (RCD), or residual-current circuit breaker (RCCB), is a safety device that quickly breaks an electrical circuit to protect equipment and to reduce the risk of serious harm from an ongoing electric shock.
4. fluxgate current sensor- flux gate current sensor has basically the same structure as a current sensor with a magnetic balance system, except that it has a magnetic probe coil instead of a Hall element.The detectable current is within a range from 6 to 600A, and is perfect mainly for industrial equipment and medical equipment that require high accuracy measurement.
5.Leakage current sensor- leakage current sensor, leakage current detector is mA level measuring device. In the area of EV charging safety and EV charger protection, they required 6mA DC fault current detection and 4-20mA/30mA AC current detection.
There are still many types of sensor and current sensor, the current sensor can be divided into AC current sensor, DC current sensor, 6mA 30mA AC DC current sensor, 100A/600A current sensor.
