Product Details

MD0630T41A-1 is a high sensititivity leakage current sensor for electric vehice charging station, which can also be called residual current sensor, residual current monitor (RCM), residual current device(RCD), differential current sensor, leakage detection sensor, fault current sensor etc. The residual current detection sensor is used as type B RCD sensor dedicated to DC, AC or pulsed leakage current measurement in automotive on-board chargers. IVY give you the choice of having single or three-phase versions as well as safety version in the same housing and provide fast digital tripping output when leakage current is detected.

MD0630T41A-1 residual current device (RCD) sensor are the most important components for In-Cable control boxes (IC-CPDs) or wallboxes for charging electric vehicles. These sensors are available for various applications in different and compact designs. Specifically developed for EV-charging solutions, provides all-current sensitivity. It is intended for the detection of DC and AC residual currents/fault currents in 50Hz/60Hz AC installations. It is connected in series with the AC supply to an EV and will provide a signal output if a DC current ≥ 6mA DC flows in the circuit. It will protect against DC (6mA) and AC (30mA) residual currents, and will signal to the Smart EVSE if a fault occurs.

AS a Type B RCD(Type A RCD+6mA dc monitor), MD series leakage sensor have numerous applications and are suitable for many industries including electric vehicle charging, photovoltaic systems (solar panels), industrial device, medical device, new energy, DC screen, fire distribution cabinet, IOT field and any installation where there is a risk of DC current flowing. It is the technology that brings us closest to total protection for all known residual fault currents.

EV Charging Application

IVY offers AC/DC sensitive differential current transformers for charging cable (mode 2), AC wallbox (mode 3), DC charging station (mode 4) and optional in on-board charger applications.

Generally, AC/DC-sensitive differential current sensors can be used where direct current and alternating current circuits are directly connected and therefore AC/DC leakage currents can occur.

Typically, type A RCCBs are the sole type installed in private households, unable to detect and act on DC fault currents. Therefore, everybody that wants to charge an electric vehicle (EV) from a home power supply would require a costly type B RCCB to guarantee safety in the presence of DC fault currents. A differential current sensor integrated into an IC-CPD or wall box provides all-current sensitivity and electrical safety at low

cost and makes the installation of an expensive type B RCCB obsolete.

As the differential currents to be monitored only occur in the event of electrical faults and are extremely low (mA), maximum measurement precision is critical. In addition, a fast response time is required to maintain safety features and prevent humans from getting injured. Differential current sensors fulfill both of these essential requirements.
