IVY Metering RCD Residual Current Device Helps Energy Transition

Pulished on Dec. 26, 2025

The global energy transition and upgrade have led to a rapid increase in the demand for safety and intelligent monitoring. Currently, we are moving towards a green energy era:

Electric vehicle infrastructure construction is accelerating: Governments are promoting the "one charging station per household" policy, and the number of public charging stations is growing rapidly;

Renewable energy grid connection is increasing: A large number of photovoltaic and hydropower hybrid projects are being implemented;

Smart grid and digital upgrades in the power industry: Clean energy electricity billing requires high-precision real-time metering;

Electric vehicle safety standards are improving: Most countries have fully adopted the same RDC-DD (Residual Direct Current Detection Device) technology requirements as the EU.

In these application scenarios, current detection and residual current (leakage) protection have become critical links, affecting not only safety supervision but also equipment compliance and operational efficiency. The MD0630 Series Residual Current Monitoring Module (RCM/RCD/RCMU/RDC-DD) was developed to meet this demand, making it a core current safety monitoring product perfectly suited for the electric vehicle charging market.

IVY Metering RCD Residual Current Device Helps Energy Transition

MD0630 Series (RCD) – Tailor-made for Electric Vehicle Charging Systems

According to relevant documentation, the MD0630 series residual current sensor is an AC/DC sensitive residual current monitoring module that complies with IEC 62752/IEC 62955/IEC 61851-1 and UL2231-2 standards.

Compatibility: AC 30mA / DC 6mA Leakage Current Detection

RDC-DD/RDC-MD (DC Residual Current Protection)

Ultra-fast response: Millisecond-level leakage current cutoff ensures the safety of public charging stations.

Automatic power-on calibration (zero-point drift calibration)

Leakage current self-test (suitable for AC and DC circuits)

Fault pin indicates system failure.

This reduces the number of on-site maintenance visits by engineers, significantly lowering operating and maintenance costs.

PWM digital output, directly compatible with the smart grid ecosystem.

Photovoltaic System Requirements:

High-reliability leakage current detection

Adaptability to humid and moisture-laden environments

AC/DC leakage monitoring, compatible with inverters and energy storage systems

MD0630 Series's AC/DC leakage current detection function and high environmental adaptability perfectly meet the needs of floating photovoltaic systems.

Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and Inverters (for DC leakage)

DC bias leakage is a common problem in energy storage systems. Without monitoring, it can lead to: Insulation degradation, Energy loss, Fire risk

IVY Metering MD36DA-C/P residual current sensors can detect DC currents as low as approximately 3-6mA, making them particularly suitable for inverter + battery systems.

The MD0630 Series (RCDs) are suitable for outdoor electric vehicle charging stations, high-humidity environments, coastal cities, parking lots, shopping malls, and similar scenarios.

With its international standards, all-scenario adaptability, and high reliability, our RCD is an ideal choice for energy projects that meet EU and US standards.
