Bistable relays – Energy-efficient and reliable switching
IVY Metering relays are a key component in energy meters. They enable motors to be started and stopped smoothly, thereby contributing to improved energy efficiency and extended drive service life. High switching capacity, short response times, and a compact design make IVY Metering relays the ideal choice for modern automation solutions.
One example is the relay IM-M1202, which is ideal for industrial applications:
Bistable switching technology with motor-driven for high shock and vibration resistance
Rated switching current up to 100A
Small size, permanent magnetic immunity up to 500mT
Custom assemblies available
Compliant with IEC 62052-11/IEC-62055-31 UC3

Bistable relays can be used to switch applications in a reliable and energy-saving manner. Bistable relays allow for two stable switch positions even when powered down. In comparison to monostable relays, just a short switching impulse of a few milliseconds is enough to switch the relay into a defined switch position. Only a low nominal power level is required. This saves energy and reduces heat generation. In addition, the relays have high vibration and shock resistance.
Our latching series relay are specifically made to cater for the requirements of smart meters, typical features include:
Compact in size
Low cost and very competitive price
Pulse coil driven with negligible energy consumption
